Adrian Joseph Sekula, age 84, of Floresville Texas, passed away at his Wilson County home on Saturday, December 30, 2023, with his devoted wife at his side.
Adrian was born on November 19, 1939 in Karnes City, Texas, to Isidore Sekula and Barbara Moy Sekula. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isidore and Barbara Sekula; Brothers Raymond Sekula and Lucian Sekula; brothers in-laws, Edwin Janysek and Michael Eiserer, sister- in-Law Chris McFadden, and nephew Aron Sekula.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary K. (Kathy) McFadden Sekula; siblings, Virginia Janysek, Sally Schaefer, Mary Eiserer, Gene Sekula, Larry (Gaye) Sekula, Therese (Skip) Bass, Isidore (Georganna) Sekula; sisters-in-law Janette Sekula, Barbara Laskowski (Isidore) and Roslyn Ortmann (Randy). Adrian also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. The eldest of ten children, Adrian has always supported his family with wisdom, leadership and advice that will be sorely missed.
Adrian started his formal education in a country school where Polish was the only language used. When he had to change schools he was upset because he did not know any English, but he soon caught on and became an excellent student and avid reader. He attended his freshman year at Falls City High School, then spent three years at St. John's minor seminary in San Antonio. He did not think that the priesthood was his calling, but was drawn instead to farming with his dad. He also enlisted in the Army Reserves. A bad drought drove him to seek other employment, and after a couple of jobs he went to work at a large chemical plant in Victoria. There he received specialized training in welding, metallurgy, and related fields. In 1970 he married Kathy McFadden of Floresville. Family obligations brought them back to the Floresville area in1973, and Adrian began his own independent welding business. His sheds, cattle pens, gates, cattle guards, etc. can be seen all over the South Texas area.
He also put his welds on a lot of Moy Drilling's water well pipe and Boening Brothers equipment. Adrian also kept a small herd of cattle on his home place that brought him back to his farming roots.
Adrian was a man of great faith. He loved his Catholic religion and practiced it faithfully. He was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, where he served as lector until recently. For many years he cooked brisket all night for the parish festival. He was a member of Knights Council 6641, serving as Recording Secretary and Grand Knight. He also served on Catholic Life Insurance local Branch 76 as a vice-president. Adrian was a big supporter and follower of the County Line Community Band to which his wife belonged for many years.
Adrian was a real people-person. He never met a stranger. He could easily talk to anyone. He has been described as kind, generous, faithful-a great man, a good friend. He will be missed.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel, in Floresville, Texas. A rosary will be recited there beginning at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Tuesday, January 9, beginning at 10:30 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Floresville, Texas. Interment will follow the services at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville, Texas.

Sorry for your loss and prayers to his family . I met Mr. Sekula in 1991 while working at Boening´s
The Boening´s wanted to move a shed, he cut the shed loose and set it on top of a cattle trailer and moved it to its new location. Something you don´t forget.
