Agnes Brunner

Agnes M. Brunner (Buknow), 91 year old longtime resident of Hazlet, NJ passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Agnes was born in 1933 to her parents Frank and Mary (Carnogursky) Buknow. She grew up in Nutley, NJ with her older sister Betty, younger sister Joan, and her dear Aunt Helen (Carnogursky). She married Joseph Brunner in 1954 and enjoyed 49 wonderful years of marriage. Agnes and Joe initially lived in Clifton, NJ where they welcomed their first son, James. Their family then relocated to Hazlet, NJ in 1957 and were blessed with two more sons, Neal and Stephen. Agnes was a longtime parishioner at Holy Family Parish in Union Beach, NJ. She volunteered at the Holy Family Parish thrift shop for many years. For 30 years, Agnes and Joe were active members in the Middletown Ramblers Square Dancing Club.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Brunner (2003), her parents, Frank and Mary "Mae" Buknow, her loving Aunt Helen Carnogursky, her brother Anthony who died in childhood and her sister Betty Marion.
She is survived by her dear sons: James, Neal and his wife Susan, Stephen and his wife, Grace. Agnes is survived by her grandchildren Siobhan Brennan and her husband Patrick, Forrest Brunner, William Brunner, Sean Brunner, Shannon Brunner, and one great grandchild, Maeve Brennan. Agnes is also survived by her sister, Joan Pandey and her dear friend, Alfred Pesko.
Visitation will take place on Monday, May 6th from 5pm - 8pm at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown NJ.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 7th at 10am at Holy Family Church, Union Beach, NJ.
Agnes' final resting place will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown NJ.
