Agnes Margaret Dedrick, 94, of Charlotte, died peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Through the blessing of hospice, she was able to be at home surrounded by her family.
Agnes was born in Cohoes, NY, on April 28, 1930, the daughter of Stephen and Anna Hanacek Smith. She grew up there and in 1955, married Eugene Dedrick. In 1977, they moved to Charlotte where she had been a resident since. They were blessed with two children, Denis and Deborah and Agnes was proud to be a full time mother and caretaker of the household. She was a member of St John Neumann Catholic Church and she volunteered for many of the outreach ministries they had. Agnes also loved to travel, especially when it came to going to Florida and the beach. In 2015, Eugene preceded her in death and in 2017 her son Denis preceded her as well.
Agnes is survived by her daughter, Deborah, who lived with her the past 15 years and helped to make sure Agnes could remain at home; her three grandchildren: Jessica Bruner of Vale, NC, Brittany (Jordan) Styers of Newton, NC, and Shawnee Weaver of Jamestown, NC; and great grandchildren: Deegan Bruner, Dawson Bruner, Hayes Styers and Emma Styers. In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, David Bruner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at St John Neumann Catholic Church.
Agnes' family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them.
