Agnes P Lally

Agnes Pauline Lally, 86, of Matawan passed away at home on March 21, 2025.
She was born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late John Doenzelmann and Anna (Eirdosh) Doenzelmann. Agnes grew up in Clark, NJ attending Jonathan Dayton High School, graduating in 1956. It was through her father's construction business that she met James Lally and they married on May 11, 1957. Together they welcomed 4 children: Peter, Patricia, James and Susan.
In 1970, Agnes began working for Carter Drugs in Matawan, eventually obtaining her Pharmacy Technician license, of which she was very proud. She retired from Carter Drugs after 44 years of dedicated service. She was very involved with the Cheesequake Village community for many years. In addition to pharmaceutical deliveries, she would make time to visit with the people who lived there.
She loved visiting with friends and her family and made many new friends on her daily walks through the neighborhood. Her greatest treasures were her 6 grandchildren.
Agnes was recently predeceased by her loving husband, James, and her brother, Johnny, who died in childhood.
She is survived by her loving children Peter Lally and his wife, Susan of Jackson, Patricia Lally and her spouse Bernice Martorano of Chicago, James Lally and his sweetheart Lisa Alston of Matawan, and Susan Lucas and her husband Lance of Massillon, Ohio. She is
also survived by her 6 grandchildren: Thomas, Kristen, James, Matthew (wife Charlene), Bianca and Brittany.
Visitation for both Agnes and James will be on Friday, March 28 from 4-7pm at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Pl. Keyport, NJ 07735
A brief service will be held for them at the funeral home on Saturday, March 29 at 10:15 am, with prayers by Father Tom of St. Clement's Church at 11:15 am, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery.
