Mrs. Agnes Viola Greeson Loy, age 94, of Burlington, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 at her residence after several months of failing health.
Born in Guilford County she was the daughter of the late James and Bertha Shoffner Greeson and was married for over 53 years to the late Rev. James Columbus Loy, who passed in 2003. Agnes was a career homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Friendship Church and was the exemplary pastor’s wife, faithfully serving alongside her husband during his ministry for over 45 years.
Mrs. Loy is survived by her two sons, James William Loy and wife, Tammy, and Samuel Greeson Loy; two granddaughters, Beth Loy and Stephanie Loy; a sister, Winnie Stafford; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Vera Robertson and Bernice Neese; and six brothers, Junius, Jasper, Kelly, Dick, Bayne and baby George Greeson.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Friendship Church by Rev. Thurman Horney. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially her caregivers, Alethica, Renita and Kia, for all their loving and thoughtful care of Agnes during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Friendship Church c/o the building fund at 4612 Friendship Patterson Mill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
