Alice Aileen Huddleston was born in Kerrville, Tennessee to Edgar Earl Huddleston and Eula Alice Spain Huddleston. She grew up in Brighton, Tennessee the youngest of eight children.
After graduating high school Aileen went on to work for Illinois Central Railroad. There she met her future husband, John Scanlon Schwartz Jr. Upon returning from his time of service in World War II. Aileen and First Sergeant Schwartz moved to Memphis, Tennessee. There she cherished being housewife and mother to their daughter, Johnette.
The couple would later follow their only daughter and her family to Columbia, Missouri. Aside from being doting grandparents to their three grandchildren, "Nana and Paw-Paw" were also parishioners of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and active volunteers at the Columbia Senior Center helping out with programs such as Meals on Wheels. After tirelessly assisting their grandchildren with paper routes, the couple became employees themselves of the Columbia Daily Tribune serving as perhaps the oldest paper carriers in town.
After Paw-Paw's passing in 2002, Nana kept busy working as a people greeter at Grindstone Wal-Mart where she excelled at welcoming many Columbians to her store, always ready with a flower in her hair and a smile on her face. Nana retired from Wal-Mart at age 93 to spend more time with family, splitting time between Columbia and Phoenix, Arizona. In early 2025 Nana moved into the Bluffs in Columbia where she continued to brighten numerous peoples' days with her southern charm and loving personality.
She is survived by her son-in-law Thomas Seibel, three grandchildren Haley Greenlee (Tom), Amy Choy (Austin), and Jonathan Seibel (Jennifer) as well as her seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Sydney, Gillian, Torin, Lia, Grady and Cohen.
Nana chose to contribute to the University of Missouri's Gift of Body Program.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory, 12 East Ash Street, Columbia, MO 65203 (573) 449-4153. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.millardfamilychapels.com
