With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Al Martin, who left us peacefully on March 23, 2025, just days before his 81st birthday. Born on March 27, 1944, in Wallagrass, Maine, Al was the beloved son of Adrienne and Cyprien Martin.
Al lived a life defined by service, love, and unwavering dedication to others. He was best known throughout the Saco community for his selfless contributions as a longtime coach for Saco Little League, where he didn't just teach kids how to play the game-he taught them teamwork, integrity, and how to believe in themselves. His mentorship left a lasting legacy in the hearts of countless young athletes.
Above all, Al was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love for his family shone through in everything he did. His quiet strength and warm heart were the foundation of his home. Whether he was cheering from the sidelines, offering words of encouragement, or simply exchanging playful banter with his loved ones, Al's presence made everyone around him feel seen, valued, and loved.
Al was predeceased by his parents, Adrienne and Cyprien Martin; his brothers, Alberick and Richard Martin; and his sister, Pauline Frazier. He is lovingly remembered by his two sons and their families: Jason and his wife Katie, along with their daughters Amanda and Mackenzie; and Derrick and his wife Nicole. Al took immense pride in being a father and grandfather - a role he cherished above all else. The values he instilled in his family will carry forward as a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Al is also survived by his siblings: Anne-Marie Rousselle and her husband Roland, Patricia Beaudoin and her husband Roland, Goderick Martin and his wife Jeanne, Frederick Martin and his wife Vivian, and Roger Martin and his wife Mary Ann. A celebration of Al's life will be held on April 12, 2025 with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a small service to follow at Hope Memorial Chapel in Biddeford, Maine where family and friends are invited to share memories, laughter, and the enduring spirit of a man who gave so much and asked for so little.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saco Little League in Al's memory at Saco Little League, PO Box 285, Saco, ME 04072
