Alan Harris Andersen, also known as Andy, passed away on October 12, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. Alan was born on December 30, 1936 to Merlin Andersen and Ruby Harris Andersen in Preston, Idaho. He was the 3rd of 6 children. His family eventually moved to Ogden, Utah when he was young.
Dad married JoAnn Thurgood on October 18, 1955.
Dad was a Korean War Veteran and served as a weather officer on a submarine tender in the U.S. Navy. After being honorably discharged, he moved his family to Kaysville, Utah and worked at Hill Air Force Base. He moved his family to Las Vegas, Nevada where he managed ready mix plants for a number of years. He and JoAnn eventually moved to Beaver, Utah where he worked as a truck driver until he retired. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn, his son Mark, 2 granddaughters Randi Leah and Kristin DeAnn Andersen, his brother Royce, and sisters Charlotte and Joyce.
He is survived by his sons Rick (Bobbie), Mike (Suzanne), and Robert Wade Andersen. He is also survived by his brother Steven (Jolene), sister Lisa, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services begin with a 12:00 pm viewing followed by church funeral services at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the LDS 1st Ward (15 N 100 W, Beaver, UT 84713). A graveside dedication will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, Utah. Arrangements are under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. A lunch will be served at the church following the graveside. Online condolences may be shared and a live stream of the funeral viewed at www.mortuary.org.
