In the twilight hours of Tuesday September 9, 2025, Alan Bushey, 76 passed peacefully into the next life with family by his side.

Born August 27, 1949 to Alton & Joyce (LaBounty) Bushey, Alan grew up in Schenectady before the family settled just outside of Plattsburgh.

From enlisting in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, for which he received an honorable discharge, to carrying a NYS pistol permit while serving as a Sheriff's Deputy, to becoming a career master electrician, Alan lived a life full of experiences that shaped who he was. He was a pacifist at heart, always gentle and kind.

Alan was always ready to lend a helping hand, often performing work for people in exchange for whatever treasures they may have had (including an entire phone booth!).

After retiring from Clinton Correctional Facility, Alan filled his days (when he wasn't continuing to work as a private electrician) by spending time visiting with his friends. He seldom met anyone he wasn't willing to have a beer with.

He had a weekly routine; Bernie's on Mondays, bowling with Paul on Tuesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, visiting family on Wednesday and Saturdays. He always made sure to get home in time to have dinner with the love of his life, his wife Molly. He never wasted an opportunity to tell her that he loved her.

Alan was particularly proud of his granddaughter, Abbie, and was looking forward to watching her graduate this coming summer and go on to pursue a nursing degree. He told everyone he talked to how proud he was of her. He was always very attentive and ready with a smile for his grandson Rowan, too. Though they weren't able to share as many life experiences, he frequently asked about Rowan and loved him deeply.

Aside from Molly, his wife of 41 years, and his grandchildren Abbie and Rowan, Alan leaves behind his daughter Hannah (Jason), as well as his other children he had recently reunited with, Chris (Melanie) and Anna (Josh); he regretted not being able to reconnect with his son Adam, but life had different plans.

Sharing in mourning, and celebrating his life are also his sisters, Marilyn (Barry), Carolyn, and Beverly (Don), and his younger brother Bill (Terry); sisters in law Colleen (Tom) and Ellen (Paul), and brother-in-law Dan (Mindy), as well as nieces and nephews Kristin, Nicolette, Chantal, Dan, Amy, Phoenix, Kenneth, Ian, Matt, Paige (Madora), and Maxwell, and his only nephew on his wife's side; Aidan Conroy, as well as their respective partners.

He was preceded in death by both parents, as well as his brother Bob, and brothers in law Bryan and Jimmy, as well as many lifelong friends who I am sure were happy to see him again.
