Alan Coker Obituary

Visit the Schertz Funeral Home and Crematory - Schertz website to view the full obituary.

Alan B. Coker, 61, resident of Cibolo, Texas, went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness. He passed surrounded by family and friends knowing he was loved.

He was born and raised in Richland Hills, Texas. Alan attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He attended flight school at Laughlin AFB and served his country proudly for 24 years. Alan was an instructor pilot in the T-37, T-38, T-1, and KC-135R. He flew as a PIT Instructor Pilot until his retirement and then served as a T-1 PIT simulator instructor.

He enjoyed motorcycles, building in his shop, and supporting his son in Boy Scouts. Flying was his passion. The man loved his truck. Alan loved his family fiercely and his friends were family. He possessed a unique ability to meet people right where they were. Alan could connect with all from the toughest hombres to the meekest goody two-shoes -- with door-to-door solicitors being a glaring exception.

Alan is survived by his wife Deirdre, his sons Jacob and Alton, his mother Onita, siblings Connie and David, loving nieces and nephews and a wealth of faithful friends across the globe. Alan is preceded in death by his father Corky.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 11:30 A.M. at Schertz Funeral Home, followed by a Graveside Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.

The family invites family and friends to join them for a luncheon at Paesanos in Lincoln Heights at 3:00 PM following the Graveside Service.

Flowers are welcome, but memorials may be made to BAMC Auxiliary.
