Alan Collette Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Mar. 14, 2026.
Alan B. Collette, Sr., 88, of Windsor, beloved husband of Kathleen K. Collette passed away on March 12 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 20, 1937, son of the late Leander and Lucy (Krenz) Collette. Alan proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life he carried with great pride until his final days. To Alan the saying once a Marine, always a Marine rang true.

Those who knew Alan, knew a man who found joy in simple, meaningful things. Whether it was a holiday or a simple weekday, Alan had a gift of appreciation that few could match. It was the best meal, the best day, the best company he ever had. He gave generously of his time to youth sports and scouting, including Windsor Youth soccer, Windsor American Little League, Pack 203, and the Windsor Water Rats. He was a long time member of the Elks Club where he found good company and fellowship among friends. An avid golfer, on the golf course Alan was equally at home enjoying the game with the same easy dedication he brought to everything he loved. A longtime Mets fan, Alan's loyalty never wavered through the good years and the many, many others. His garden was another source of quiet pride, a reflection of his care and steady dedication. Summers at the lake in Moodus were a treasured tradition. A place where he could gather and relax with the people he loved most.

In addition to his wife, Kathleen, he is survived by his son Curtis Collette and his wife Mary, his daughter Jeanine Lynch and her husband Chuck, and his daughter-in-law Kate Collette. He was a cherished grandfather to Marguerite, Collette, Simon, Carly, Jacob, Anna, and Owen. He is also survived by his brother Paul Collette and his wife Margot, his sister Carol Pudvah and her husband Bernie, his sister-in-law Sister Ann Kane, and his sister-in-law Maureen Canning and her husband Joe, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alan was predeceased by his son Alan B. Collette, Jr. and his brother Curtis D. Collette both of whom he carried in his heart always.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 4-7 pm at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 23, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Damien of Molokai Parish-St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor, CT. Burial with military honors will be in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Windsor,CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alan's honor to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, www.pcf.org.
