Alan Ervin Cosgriff, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025. His final days were spent surrounded by the love and affection of his two daughters and close family.
Alan was born October 28, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Ohio State University prior to graduating from Franklin University. Following graduation, Alan honed his skills in the food and beverage industry until his innovative talents compelled him to open his first restaurant named Charlie’s in Louisville, Kentucky. Alan made a career in the food and beverage industry, eventually moving his family to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to act as the first Director of Food and Beverage for the Isle of Capri Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, where after 15 years of service he retired in 2004. Alan retired and resided in Ocean Springs, Mississippi until his death.
Alan’s priority in life was always his two daughters. He loved and protected them every day of his life and was the epitome of a “girl dad.” A very close second was his devotion to his beloved Buckeyes. Alan never missed The Ohio State football games and was eager to explain to anyone that would listen to Buckeye sports lore. Alan was passionate about sharing his love for animals with his family and never let a cat he came across go unfed. He lived life to the fullest and on his own terms.
Alan is preceded in death by his mother, Jane Ervin Cosgriff; and father, Robert Lien Cosgriff.
Alan is survived by his two daughters, Andrea Cosgriff and Ashely Cosgriff Manuel; and his two brothers, Kevin Cosgriff and Brian Cosgriff.
Alan and his family express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Kulpa and all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Singing River Health System for their care and dedication.
