Alan Donovan Obituary

Alan W. Donovan Sr.

June 21, 1939 - February 13, 2026

Conway, South Carolina - Alan Wendell Donovan Sr., aged 86, passed away on February 13, 2026, in Conway, South Carolina. Son of Eldon C. Donovan, and Carolyn J. Donovan, he was born June 21, 1939, in Gardner Kansas.

When Alan was 5 years old the family moved to Kansas City Missouri. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1957. Joining the Navy shortly thereafter, he was stationed mainly in Guam and overseas and proudly served for eleven years. After returning home he joined the Army Reserves in addition to serving as commander for the VFW Post NO. 7900. Eventually retiring from the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City after 20 years of service.

Alan was devoted to his family, always wanting the best for them. He was a kind, funny, patient and generous man. Always quick to laugh and to share a joke. Game shows and reading were his favorite past times. Many fond memories were made during the football season, his immense love for football was something shared with his brother, son, grandsons and nephews…The Kansas City Chiefs could do no wrong.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Bonnie.

He is survived by his brother Tim Donovan (Linda), his ex-wife and mother of his children, Margie Cox of Conway S. C.; their children, Alan W. Donovan Jr (Donna), his daughter Carolyn Kay Webster, (Timothy), 6 grandchildren: Alan W Donovan III, Valerie N. Poh (Eric), Brandon Donovan (Abby), Rachelle L. Pendleton (William), Cody B. Webster, Zachary J. Webster, Great Grandchildren; Serenity Pendleton, Brandon Donovan Jr, Summer Garner, Step- Daughter Debra Page (Doug), Step Grandchildren Jason Page (Emily), Jennifer Lynch (Chris), and several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

While he knew he could be a splendid pain in the neck at times, Alan was a deeply beloved father, grandpa, brother, uncle, co-worker and friend. His passing was unexpected but quick, just the way he always hoped it would be. He will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
