Alan Kirchoff, born in Hackensack, NJ, in 1949, raised in Little Ferry, NJ, passed on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, at his home in Delanco, NJ.
Alan is survived by his wife, Michelle [nee Alberque] of over 50 years and their children, Craig Kirchoff (married to Katrina Kirchoff), and Ryan Kirchoff-Ross (married to Craig Ross), as well as his three grandchildren Madeline Kirchoff, Ian Kirchoff, and Eliya Ross. He was affectionately known as "Gampie" to his grandchildren. Alan was a retired Army Vietnam veteran, a member of the 101st Airborne division, known as the "Screaming Eagles," serving from 1969 to 1971. After his military service, he worked in the flooring industry for over four decades.
Alan was a true DIY'er at heart, a prankster, and never hesitated to strike up a conversation with anyone in earshot. He loved coaching little league baseball/softball, floor hockey and soccer and served on his local school board for many years. He loved spending hours working on his one true love - his self-restored, award winning 1970 Mustang convertible, or strumming one of his guitars with close friends (and sounding "just like the Eagles.") He loved fixing, remodeling and rebuilding his home (and other people's homes as well) and embraced being a "techie" even into his older years. He was an active member and officer of the Vietnam Veterans of America chapter 899. He loved taking trips to Atlantic City and having uncanny luck at the game Buffalo, as well as spending time with family on trips to the NJ shore. In recent years, Alan loved to be an "influencer" to his grandchildren, often teaching them naughty pranks that would eventually get them into trouble but somehow, not him.
He will always be missed and forever loved.
The family requests donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation at www.garysinisefoundation.org in lieu of flowers.
