Alan Wayne Klindt passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at his home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He was 78 years old.
He is survived and dearly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Natalie Klindt (née Howard); his two daughters, Holly Klindt and Tammy Klindt, both of Tacoma, Washington, as well as his brother, Gary Klindt of Sidney, New York. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews from the Klindt and Howard families.
He is predeceased by his parents, Thor and Marjorie Klindt (née Marble); as well as brothers Herb, Roger and sister Barb.
Alan was a fun-loving person, who could find laughter in any situation. He was a "day 1" Green Bay Packers fan, and he also loved the Boston Celtics. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf and exploring the beaches after retirement. In prior years, he trained for and ran many marathons (including the Boston Marathon), in addition to cycling competitions, triathlons and playing tennis. He loved technology, and was always fascinated with a new "gadget".
Alan was born in Walton, New York and later attended Downsville New York Central High School where he graduated in 1964. Not long after, at age 17, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving one tour of Vietnam as a radio operator with the 101 Airborne Division from 1965 to 1966.
Following his military service, Alan attended Broom Technical College in Binghamton, New York, where he was a member of the school's soccer team. He later transferred to the University of Houston, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree. It was during this time he met Natalie, whom he married in 1971. After college, Alan worked as a contractor for companies such as Western Electric and Nokia, in addition to over twenty years with Radio Shack in a variety of positions.
Alan will be laid to rest at the National Veterans Cemetery in Mims, Florida. A celebration of Al's life will take place on March 29th, 2025 at his residence. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
