Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels on Feb. 3, 2026.
Alan Matisoff of Monroe Twp, New Jersey, passed peacefully on February 2, 2026, at home. Alan was 82 years old.
Alan was born in Bronx, New York, in 1943, a place that shaped his character early on. He was strong, grounded, and resilient. From those beginnings he carried forward a lifelong sense of responsibility, work ethic, and loyalty to family that never wavered.
Alan passed peacefully surrounded by his immediate family after a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer's disease, which he faced with dignity and grace. Though his memory gradually faded his essence never did. His calm presence, quiet strength, and steady way of loving his family remained deeply felt by those around him until the very end.
During his three-plus-year journey with Alzheimer's, Alan was lovingly cared for by his entire family while staying with his son David and wife Heather, who considered it a privilege to care for him during this chapter of life, just as he had once cared for them. Though the roles of our family have changed forever, the bonds did not. We were all able to connect with Alan/Pop in quiet moments, gentle routines, familiar voices and the deep peace of simply being together in a family home until his passing.
Alan is survived by his loving wife Ann-Lynn Matisoff of 62 years, his twin brother Jeffrey Matisoff & husband Larry Skolnek, his children; Michele & husband Bruce, David & wife Heather, Richie & wife Suzanne; his grandchildren Tori-Rae & husband Koby, Scott & his wife Samantha, Courtney & husband Lester, Samantha, and Jared. Alan was also blessed with three great-grandchildren over the past two years; Nora, Mason and Camryn who brought him joy and light. He also leaves behind many extended family, friends and caregivers, Lovena & Sheila who were touched by his quiet strength, steady presence and gift of gab.
Alan's legacy is one of calm, love, and endurance. He showed his family how to move through life, how to face each day head on, and how love does not fade even when your memory does. His being will continue to live on for generations. What more could a husband/father ask for……
May his memory be a blessing.
