Alan Dale Meacham, 91, of Burr Ridge, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, with his wife, Lorraine, at his side. His passing followed a long and stubborn battle with Parkinson's Disease, throughout which he was comforted by the support of his family.
Alan was born June 14, 1933, in Chicago. He graduated from Harper High School, served in the Marine Corps, and then received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Illinois Institute of Technology and Loyola University respectively. Alan worked as a flight engineer for Pan American Airlines following his military service. He spent the remainder of his professional career with Illinois Bell/AT&T as an instructor, engineer, and real estate manager. Alan was a lifelong golfer and spent many hours playing and volunteering at the Belmont Golf Club, as well as at his church and DuPage Pads. He also loved traveling and going dancing with Lorraine.
Alan was a kind and supportive family man and is survived by Lorraine (née Kloc), his wife of 60 years; his children Margaret (Erik) Bergquist, Paul (Amy), and Christopher; grandchildren Ulysse, Bailey and Abby Bergquist and Luke and Erin Meacham; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Amelia; brother, Willard (Joanne); and sister, Celine.
Memorial visitation Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 will begin at 10:00 am with the memorial mass immediately following at 11:00 am, both at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Darien. Internment will be at Clarendon Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to DuPage Pads (www.dupagepads.org) would be appreciated. For info www.modelldarien.com or 630-852-3595.
