Alan B. Osberg, Sr., 73, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Coventry Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Coventry, RI. He was born in Warwick, RI to the late Kermit R. and Bernice E. (Beaudoin) Osberg.
Alan possessed several trade skills, but cutting trees was his passion. He and his good friend Dave had their own tree cutting business for several years. But it was not "work" for Alan. He truly loved firing up his chainsaw and or rigging his own (very dangerous) cutting tool for high up branch cuts. He was not one to sit still for very long and always had an ongoing project. Alan had also worked for Star City Glass Works and Arkwright Mill both in Coventry, RI.
Alan enjoyed fishing from his two-seater boat along the coast of the Bay. He once caught a small shark, followed with some panic once pulled into the boat. He also enjoyed going to Disney World and helping others. He was always ready to help with a car repair, didn't matter if you were a stranger or not, he would never want money, he simply did it out of the goodness of his heart. Alan was a Freemason, affiliated with Ionic Lodge #28, F & A.M. Coventry, RI.
He is survived by two children: son Alan B. Osberg Jr. and his wife Perihan of Fairbanks, AK and daughter Holly Briggs and her husband Kenny of Alexandria, NH; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sibling: Brian Osberg and his wife Susan of Coventry, RI. He is also survived by his companion Marian Chatelle.
Visitation will take place at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 E. Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI on Sunday, April 2 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. A Masonic service will take place at 1:00 p.m. immediately followed with Words of Remembrance. Burial will be private.
Should friends desire, donations may be made in his memory to: Hasbro Children's Hospital, P.O. Box H, Providence, RI 02901-9979, or online at www.lifespan.org/HCH-giving.
