POTOSI – Alan Lee Salis, age 67, of Potosi, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 22, 1956, in Lancaster, the son of David and Patricia (Howell) Salis. Alan attended Dubuque Hempstead School. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at various locations within the tri-state area. Alan also served as the Waterloo Township Patrolman. In 1979, Alan was united in marriage to Kristine Schubert in La Crosse. Four children were born to this union: Eric, Alan, Melissa “Mili”, and Tracy. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying 4-wheeling, hunting, and being on the river. Alan also enjoyed operating heavy equipment, telling stories, music, and playing the guitar. He dearly loved spending time with family and friends and the “occasional” cocktail. Alan had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his children: Eric, Alan, Melissa “Mili” (Jake Rogers) and Tracy (Josh Bast) Salis; his grandchildren: Hallie, Hannah, Harper, Konnor, and Kaedon; his mother, Patricia Anderson; his siblings: Timothy (Nancy) Salis; Tami Anderson; and Lynn Meier; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his father David, Alan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Albert and Helen Salis; his brothers, Dennis Salis and Kevin Anderson; a brother-in-law, Dan “Pork” Meier; a nephew, TJ Salis.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster. A Celebration of Alan’s Life will continue from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at PJ’s Pub & Hall, 3670 County HHH, Kieler, WI 53812.
