Alan Waller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Salisbury on Dec. 4, 2025.
Alan L. Waller, known affectionately to friends and family as Al, embarked on his final broadcast on November 30, 2025, signing off after a courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
Born on May 11, 1945, in Laurel, DE, Al's journey through life was as vibrant and heartwarming as the static-free airwaves he so masterfully engineered. Al always had a joke at the ready, he faced challenges with a smile and a punchline, making light of the darkest moments. Al's humor was like a trusty transmitter, reaching the hearts of all who knew him, near and far.
A proud graduate of Wicomico High School's Class of 1963. His career was a series of impressive titles and accomplishments, being the Owner of Broadcast Engineering Services, Chief Engineer at Clear Channel Radio, and his analytical prowess shone brightly at EG & G Analytical Services where he traveled the world. He was an instrumental team member that did geographical mapping from an aircraft, a Supervisor at Airpax where he oversaw the operation of all production equipment and later managing an upgrade of equipment from air logic to electronic controls which was a major advancement for Airpax.
Al was a man who could turn dials and heads with his expertise. He obtained his amateur radio license on May 23,1962 and remained active for the next 63 years. His love for amateur radio was more than just a hobby; it was the frequency at which his heart vibrated. Too many, he was their Elmer and mostly he was the OM. His call sign K3TKJ, transmitted joy camaraderie across the airwaves and into the lives of his fellow HAM's.
He leaves behind a band of loved ones tuned to his frequency: his devoted wife Denise, his dear mother Erma Waller, his children, Karen Speicher and husband Jeff, Patrick Waller and wife Michelle, Kelly Coulbourne, and Courtney Drake and husband Jason, who will continue to broadcast his legacy of love and laughter. Al's signal will also echo in the laughter of his ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews who will miss their patriarch's playful spirit. Al's is predeceased by his father, Roger L. Waller, and his brothers, Robert (Bob), Dennis, and David Waller.
His life was a symphony of laughter and a testament to the joy of human connection. As we remember Al, let us tune our hearts to the frequency of joy, laughter, and the love he shared so freely. He may have left the shack, but his legacy will forever be on the air in the memories of those who loved him. 73 K3TKJ, and may your final journey be a gentle one, and may you find that legendary Rockwell Collins KWM-380 you spent so long looking for.
A celebration of life on December 12, 2025, will be at Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804 with visitation 9-10am and service at 10am. An informal gathering and light lunch will be at Hebron Fire Department 200 S. Main St, Hebron, MD 21830 immediately following.
