Lakisha's Journey
Lakisha Rose Snead Showell, affectionately known as "Keybug," departed this life on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at her home in
Salisbury, Maryland, at the age of fifty-two (52). She was born on September 24, 1973, to the late Diane Atkins and Theodore Snead, Jr.
Lakisha received her education at Wicomico High School in
Salisbury, Maryland. She was a faithful member of St. John's Baptist Church in Fruitland, Maryland, where she worshipped and served the Lord with devotion.
In her youth, she was an active member of the Weeping Mary Baptist Church drill team and participated as a First Baptist "Busy Bee." She also expressed her passion for dance as a proud member of the 2 Hype Dance Crew.
Her professional journey included dedicated service at Tyson Foods, Perdue Farms, and most recently at Genesis Nursing Home and Rehabilitation.
On June 1, 2013, Lakisha was united in marriage to Douglas Showell, Jr. Together, they built a loving home and shared countless cherished memories.
Known for her radiant personality, Lakisha will be remembered for her love of dancing, her joy in shopping, and, above all, her deep devotion to her family and friends. She was also a regular patron of the Queen City Elks Lodge, where she enjoyed supporting community events and fellowship.
Lakisha leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Douglas Showell, Jr. of
Salisbury, MD; three sons, Marquis Ballard (DaShanelle) of Princess Anne, MD, Trendon Kimble of
Salisbury, MD, and Dequantre Showell of Fruitland, MD and five beloved grandchildren, Kaleis Kimble, Paris Cropper, Amir Harmon, Na'Lahni Showell, and Kayden Taylor; three special sister-cousins, TyShonda Westcott, Tanisha Carter, and Antionette Hayes; one brother-cousin, Donta' Snead.
She is also survived by: her stepfather, Alex Atkins of Fruitland, MD; mother-in-law, Ernestine Moore of
Salisbury, MD; sisters-in-law, Chymika Moore of
Salisbury, MD and Sahara Moore of Virginia Beach, VA; brother-in-law, Marvin Ames of Eden, MD; great-uncles Harry Hunter of Virginia Beach, VA; uncles, Daryl Carter of Fruitland, MD, Lawrence Carter of Princess Anne, MD, and Johnnie Carter (Anne) of
Salisbury, MD; great-aunts, Elizabeth Parker and Dorothy Hull (Ronald) of
Salisbury, MD; aunts, Mary Mumford, Peggy Snead and Patricia Butler (all of
Salisbury, MD), and Ruby Davis (Kent) of Allen, MD; Godchildren, Me'Osha Jones of Dallas, TX, Nathaniel Jones, Na'Shjai Taylor of
Salisbury, MD, and Jada Justice of
Salisbury, MD; best friend, Marie Jones of
Salisbury, MD; nephews, Jermiah Gale and Joseph Gale and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Diane Atkins and Theodore Snead, Jr.; sisters, Trina Lockwood Ames and Nykeetra Atkins; maternal grandmother, Ollie Mae Carter; paternal grandparents, Ella Mae Snead and Theodore Snead, Sr.; aunts, Jaqueline Carter Spence and Diane Snead and uncles, Daniel Snead and Herman Snead; one brother-cousin, De'Ongalo Snead, Sr.

The family of "Keybug" submits this obituary with deep sorrow, yet with hearts full of gratitude for the life she lived. Though her departure leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, we rejoice in the precious memories, the laughter, and the unconditional love she shared with all of us. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her beautiful spirit and the lasting impact she made on every life she touched. Lakisha will remain in our hearts forever.
