Alane Conway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bowser-Johnson Funeral Chapel Inc. on Mar. 6, 2026.
Alane Lynn Conway, 66, passed away March 3, 2026, in Topeka, Kansas. Alane was born June 4, 1959, in Topeka, Kansas, to Virgie Deloise Whetstone and Albert Conway. She is preceded in death by her father; and two brothers: Kenny Conway and Lamar Meadors.

She attended Highland Park North Elementary, Crane Junior High School, and Topeka High School. After completing high school, she discovered her purpose and passion for Health Care. Alane spent her life dedicated to providing bedside health care to people until she retired in 2021.

Alane was a fighter for what she believed in and overcame the barriers Black women faced in the 60s and 70s. She protected her siblings from racially motivated bullying until they could defend for themselves.

Alane was a loyal friend to those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her mother; Virgie Deloise Conway; brother, Hezekiah Conway; sister, Charilla Ann Griffin.; and paternal siblings that she had a relationship with.

Alane will be laid to rest next to her father in Topeka Cemetery on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 10:00 AM.

Lynn was a tough young lady. When together she watched my back and I watched hers. She was like my big sis. She was a person who demanded respect. To my friend, rest in peace. Praying for Jehovah to comfort your family at this difficult time. Love Marsha
