Alanna M. (Reilly) Prentice, 72, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in her home surrounded by her family after a short illness.
Born in Gardner on June 16, 1952, she was the daughter of the late John B. Reilly and Marie Geraldine (Poirier) Reilly. She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1971 and attended Mount Wachusett Community College, Riviere College, and Hesser College. Alanna was a counselor employed by Open Sky Community Services for 17 years. She was previously employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Bridge of Central MA in Worcester for several years. She was previously the owner, along with her late husband, David, of Chair City Decorating.
Alanna was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner. She loved to cook, bake, work on crafts and read. Alanna's happy place was found by the water, especially the Rockport, York, Kennebunk, and Cape Cod beaches, where she loved to swim and having her favorite food, lobster. She loved to watch British shows, especially Downtown Abbey. Greatest joy and greatest treasure of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild, who treasured all the special memories she made.
Alanna is survived by her daughter, Hillary M. Richard and her husband Jeremy of Gardner; two sons, Jonathan B. Horne of Gorham, ME, and Evan J. Prentice and his wife Kerry-Ann of Gardner; five grandchildren, Ava and Anya Horne, Everly Richard, Mikayla and Aiden Nichols; a great-grandchild, Aaliyah; and a brother, John P. Reilly and his wife Ruth of Manchester, NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, David J. Prentice, who died in 2011, and a brother, Thomas Reilly.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Saint John's Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
Calling Hours will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
