Albert B. Bosse, Sr. of Erlanger, Kentucky passed away on February 19, 2024. Survivors include
his wife of 57 years Wanda Janet Bosse; brother Thomas Bosse; son and daughter-in-law Albert
and Shawn Bosse; grandchildren Lindsay Graves, Hannah Brezinski, Lydia Bosse, Natalie Bosse
and Jason Bosse; and great-grandchildren Avery Graves, Addison Graves, Shepherd Graves and
Hugh Brezinski. Albert was preceded in death by his parents George and Alma Bosse; brothers
Harry Bosse, Charles OConnell and Edwin OConnell; and sons Kenneth Woehler and Harold
Bosse.
Albert was born on October 29, 1945 in Covington, Kentucky and was a life-long resident of
Kenton County, Kentucky. He was a 34-year veteran of the Covington Police Department,
serving as Chief from 1995 to 2001. Albert was proud of the fact that he was able to follow in
his brother Ralph Bosses footsteps, who served as Covington Police Chief from 1969 to 1974.
Albert served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966, most notably as radio operator for Lt.
Colonel Hal Moore, commander of 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division
(Airmobile) during the Battle of Ia Drang in November 1965. For meritorious service against an
armed enemy, Specialist Bosse received the Bronze Star Medal in 1997. The Battle of Ia Drang
would be the bloodiest battle of the Vietnam War, depicted in the Hollywood movie We Were
Soldiers.
While working full-time as a Covington police officer, Albert earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Liberal Arts from Thomas More University that was awarded in 1994. He enjoyed traveling,
golfing and spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday March 1, 2024 at 2:00pm in the Veterans North Cemetery, Williamstown.
