Albert Craig Obituary
Albert "Al" Edward Craig of Columbia, South Carolina, born August 8, 1934, passed away January 25, 2023, at the age of 88. He was predeceased by his wife, Janet Lorraine Slocum Craig. He is survived by his daughters: Caroline Craig Overcash of Rock Hill, SC; Sharon Craig and her husband Eliades Rodriguez of Columbia, SC; and Janet Craig Jackson and her husband Greg Jackson of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Noah Craig Overcash and Abbigail Reese Jackson, and step-grandchildren Rebecca Overcash Laughead, Mark Overcash and John Overcash.
Al graduated from Dreher High School, after which he attended the University of South Carolina where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business. After college he served in the US Army, stationed in Michigan. Upon his discharge he returned to South Carolina where he settled and began his family.
Al enjoyed spending his time in his "shop" doing metal work, welding, sandblasting, and bringing life back to broken items. Al was a true Artist who made many wonderful creations. Al left an indelible mark on family, friends and neighbors, he loved telling stories and sharing his wisdom of years with all, and never knew a stranger for long. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
The family is holding a private service on Monday, January 30, 2023. Condolences and Flowers may be sent to Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29209.

I just found out this weekend that Al had passed on. I will surely miss that man. I would call him like every two months or so just to see what and how he was doing. My kids sure loved their aunt and uncle and they are taking his passing a little hard.

I remember the 1st time Al invited me in to his workshop. It looked like some kind of a museum-he had every kind of tool you could think of. I told him he could build a submarine back there if he wanted to! I always enjoyed it when he laughed. I´ll miss seeing him and my sympathy goes out to all of his family.
