Obituary of Albert D. DiGiamberardino
Albert D. DiGiamberardino, of Williamstown, passed away on April 15th, 2024 at the age of 92.
Legacy
Born to the late Frank and Edith (nee Valora) DiGiamberardino on April 20th, 1931 in Camden, NJ. Albert grew up as the second youngest of five children. His parents raised him with a sense of leadership, an impressive work ethic, and compassion for his family. At the age of thirteen, Albert's father Frank passed away. Albert went on to work for a bakery delivering bread to support his family. Although Albert did not continue the traditional route of schooling, Albert had the capability to learn from the world around him. At the age of twenty, Albert enlisted in The United States Armed Forces Army Branch where he fought in the Korean War. After coming home from the war, he kept working many different jobs, he worked in produce with his brother-in-law Ray, owned an excavating company, and became an officer for Delaware River Port Authority in 1961, going on to become Captain before retiring in 1993.
Albert met the love of his life, the late Joan (nee Butterworth) (2019) on a blind date set up by Joan's best friend Mary. The two became inseparable almost immediately with a love that burned deeply, the type of love that only can be understood by the two of them. Albert and Joan welcomed eight wonderful children in their lives. With eight children, the house always was full of excitement, laughter, boisterous voices, and love. Albert took his fatherly role very seriously, making sure to instill the values his own parents passed down to him. He can be remembered for his tough love and honesty by his children. When his children started having kids of their own, Albert flourished as a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. He loved having the grandkids over and spending time with them. When he wasn't spending time with his family, Albert loved to go to Harrah's Casino to play Craps & Slots, talk about classic cars, and listen to Frank Sinatra.
Family
Albert is remembered fondly by his children Debbie (Richard) Crivaro, Patricia (Thomas) Burns, Frank (Carol) DiGiamberardino, Donna (Jerry) May, Michael (Kathy) DiGiamberardino, Bonnie (Jerry) Riggio, Albert (Lori) DiGiamberardino, and Marc (Nicole) DiGiamberardino. Loving brother of Dorothy Ward. Beloved grandfather to fifteen grandchildren and adoring great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren.
Albert is reunited in death with his parents Frank and Edith (nee Valora) DiGiamberardino, wife of 64 years Joan (nee Butterworth), siblings John DiGiamberardino, Minnie Verchio, and Anthony DiGiamberardino.

My husband and I were on vacation in Las Vegas the same time as Albert and Joan. We spent the entire day and evening with them and had a great time. We took the gondola ride at the Venetian Casino and the gondolier sang to us in Italian. I was very impressed that Albert knew every word. Rest in peace. You were a great guy.
