Mr. Albert Dalton McDowell 74 of Randleman passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston Salem after a period of declining health. Mr. McDowell was married to the love of his life Linda Barker McDowell for 40 years where together they had and raised four children. Mr. McDowell worked for and retired after 20 plus years with the City of Asheboro. He enjoyed in his free time working on and fixing small engines. He was an active member and President of the Sophia Support Club. When not working he enjoyed fishing, going to White Lake and sitting on his front porch watching traffic. He was a huge fan of Elvis, going out to eat and especially spending time with his family whom he dearly loved.
Mr. McDowell is survived by two daughters, Tina Fonner (Tim) of Sophia and Julie Willett (Mike) of Asheboro. Two sons Shawn McDowell (Jannifer) of Trinity and Jeff McDowell of Randleman along with two sisters Kay Richardson (Ronnie) of Asheboro and Violet Tarlton of Salisbury. His five grandchildren are Christopher Fonner, Summer Forcini (Brett), Corey Lee (Amber), Trevor McDowell (Noelle) and Derek Willett; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. McDowell was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents Albert and Nina McDowell and brother Joe McDowell.
Funeral services for Albert Dalton McDowell will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026, 2:00 pm at Russell's Grove Baptist Church in Asheboro, NC officiated by Reverend Tim Fonner. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-1:50 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in memory of Mr. McDowell to the Russell's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery fund.
