Albert Michael Panariello, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6th, 2025 in Sarasota, FL.
Born on July 2, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, Al was raised in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey where his passion for fishing, boating and the sea were born and he developed the values of hard work, loyalty and entrepreneurism that would define his life's work. He graduated from Pace University in 1957 earning a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration in 1964. After serving in the United States Army, he began his professional journey at Lybrand, Ross Bros. & Montgomery and completed the requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant. He went on to join the family accounting firm Matthews, Panariello, PC in 1962, eventually becoming managing partner until his retirement in 1991. Many of his clients remained life-long friends.
In 1958, he married the love of his life, Alice R. Dailey. They moved to Mahwah, NJ in 1965 where they raised their four children and spent the next 50 years. During that time, Al served many years on the Mahwah Board of Education and oversaw the construction of Ramapo Ridge Middle School. He was also very active in Boy Scouts of America Troop 197 where he served as Treasurer.
In 1978, Al achieved his dream of building a beach home in Barnegat Light, NJ. It was here that he enjoyed his favorite days fishing, reading and spending time with his family.
Al is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alice Panariello and their children, Michael and wife Paula, Katherine Weinschenk and husband James, John and wife Martine, Paul and wife Jane. He is also survived by nine beloved grandchildren: Katherine Figueroa (Garett), Joseph Panariello, Carolyn Laughlin (Colin), Matthew Panariello, Kyle Panariello, Anthony Panariello (Allison), John Panariello, Trevor Panariello and Allison Panariello; and two great grandchildren, Alexander Panariello and George Figueroa.
Rest in peace, Al. Your presence will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the many lives you touched. In September, the family will gather in Barnegat Light, NJ to honor and celebrate your life. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be donated to Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, NJ. via the link below. https://alumni.donboscoprep.org/g/panariello
