Albert E. Rall, 81, of Queen Creek AZ, formerly of Washburn ND, passed away peacefully at his home on October 10th, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born on March 4th, 1943 to Chris and Sara (Kleinsasser) Rall, Al was the 11th of 16 children. He attended and graduated from Hurdsfield High School in ND and immediately began his work career. In March of 1964, Al joined the military and proudly served his country as a Medical Specialist E4 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His time in service was a defining chapter in his life, and he carried the values of dedication, patriotism, and hard work throughout his career.
Upon returning from Vietnam, Al embarked on a long, distinguished career as a certified welder and boilermaker. He was a proud Boilermaker Union Local 647 member and was recently recognized for 55 years of committed service. In 1967 Al met and married his beloved wife, Anna Tully. His work took the couple to several states, where he worked on the boilers of power plants. After the birth of their two daughters, they settled in Washburn, North Dakota, where Al continued his work at local power plants and designed and built their family home. For 45 years, that home became a center of warmth and love, welcoming everyone who walked through the door.
Al's life revolved around his family. He was a hard-working man, skilled with his hands, and could build or fix just about anything. His garage was always filled with tools, ready for his next project. When he wasn't working, Al cherished spending time outdoors with his family, enjoying camping, boating, fishing, and gardening.
After retiring, Al and his wife began spending winters in Arizona, allowing them to enjoy time with family in North Dakota and Arizona. But no matter the location, his family was always at the heart of everything he did. Al's daughters blessed him with five grandchildren, and he took immense pride in being a hands-on grandpa. Whether it was trips to the park, fishing outings, baseball/softball practices, cheering at sporting events and competitions, or working on projects, Al was always present. He cherished the hours spent with his grandchildren and the many memories they created together.
Al was a man of deep integrity and kindness. He was the one family could turn to for support, a listening ear, or a helping hand. Known for his ability to fix anything, he was always ready to help those he loved.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Anna, their two daughters, Jennifer (Rick) Peterson of Queen Creek, AZ, and Michelle (Ted) Klatt of Bismarck ND, and their five grandchildren, Taylor, Kendal, and Riley Peterson of Queen Creek AZ, and Stephanie (Nathaniel) Leintz and Bryon Klatt of Bismarck ND, and one great-grandson, Everett Leintz. Al's sisters, Sara Kuntz, Adeline Lautt, Sharline Godfrey, and Mary Rall, his brothers, Leonard and Ted Rall, mother in law, Ruth Tully, and sister-in-law Susan Tully and her two daughters, Jessie Smith and Julie Green. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who called him their favorite uncle, cousins, and friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents, 10 of his siblings, and his father-in-law, Stewart Tully.
Al was a member of the American Legion Victor B Wallin Post #12, Washburn and First Lutheran Church in Washburn and Saving Grace Lutheran Church in QC, AZ.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. A service to honor Al's life will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 11AM with a luncheon to follow at Saving Grace Lutheran Church (24498 S. Ellsworth Road, Queen Creek, Arizona.)
Burial at the Veterans Cemetary of North Dakota will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley or North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
