Albert "Vernon" Recker

Albert "Vernon" Recker, 88, of New Athens, IL, born February 26, 1937, in St. Libory, IL, passed away on Saturday March 1, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL. Mr. Recker owned and operated Recker Construction for many years. He was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL and the Knights of Columbus. Vernon also was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Albert and Ann (Jansen) Recker, his 1st wife – the former Diane Loesche -who married on April 12, 1958, and who passed away on September 21, 2001, his 2nd wife – Darlene Birkner-Recker – who married on October 19, 2002, and who passed away on January 30, 2023, and son Stephen Recker, his 2 brothers – Thomas Recker and Jerry Recker, who died in infancy. He was also preceded by 3 brothers-in-law – Robert Pence, Douglas Jones, Larry Loesche, sister-in-law – Frannie (Loesche) McDonnell and by Godchild – Robin Pence.
Vernon is survived by 3 children – Michael (Susan) Recker of Belleville, IL, Carla (Richard Braun) Wirth of Prairie Du Rocher, IL and Thomas Recker of New Athens, 3 sisters – Joann Pence of O'Fallon, IL, Elaine Jones of Smithton, IL and Bernadette (Leroy Simon) Dehn of Belleville, IL, 11 grandchildren – Amber, Kristen, Kara Recker, Greg Wirth, Rebecca Vogt, Stephen, Kris, Garrick, Matthew, Kaylie Recker, Misty Volner and Megan Recker, great grandchildren – Kiefer, Carter, Kynzli, Kyndal, Kynedi, Colt, Kameron, Lily, Tucker, Corrina, Elijah and Savannah, 2 Godchildren – Niki Tucker and Rachel Recker.

Visitation: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL with Fr. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Agatha Cemetery in New Athens, IL
