Albert (Al) Twilley passed away on June 30, 2025 at his home surrounded by love and family.
Born in
Salisbury, Md. on March 31, 1930, he was one of seven children born to the late Alice and Albert S. Twilley.
Al was a Master Plumber by trade and started working in that field while a very young man. He worked for Dawson Jenkins as a young journeyman plumber, and later for James Parks Plumbing. He was excellent and skilled not only as a plumber, but handled a backhoe with ease and precision. He and his brother Jack eventually started their own plumbing business, Twilley Brothers Plumbing and Heating. He became very proficient with heating and air-conditioning also. He was one of the first plumbers in Salisbury to use plastic pipe, which he quickly saw as a great asset in the plumbing field. He caught the attention of Milford W. Twilley, and became his Master Plumber for over thirty years. His ability to prefabricate his plumbing jobs using the plastic pipe cut time and cost on very large construction sites. His dedication and knowledge in the plumbing field made him one whose advice was valued when a problem was encountered. He was known to stay as long as necessary to find and fix a plumbing issue.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of over forty years, Rose Ellen Twilley. He was proceeded in death by brothers Shelton Lee Twilley, and John I Jack) Twilley, and sister Pauline Baker.
He is survived by his children: Cynthia Plaskon of
Salisbury, Md., Dennis (Nancy) Twilley of Laurel, Delaware, Bruce (Cynda) Twilley of Secretary, Maryland, and Dale (Linda) Twilley of Laurel, Delaware.
He is also survived by his grand-children: Victoria (Joey) Johnson, Amy (Chris) Welch of Salisbury. Md, Jay (Courtney) Twilley of Secretary, Md, and Jeffrey (Tania) Twilley of Easton, Md, and Jennifer Schermerhorn and step granddaughter Melissa Pettyjohn of Milton, De. He is survived by five great grandchildren: Kate (Aaron) Hill, Laci Welch, Emma Welch, Jake and Hannah, and Clay Twilley and Jace and Luke Pettyjohn.
He is also survived by his brothers: David (Yvonne) Twilley, Ronald (Teresa) Twilley, and sister Naomi (Betty) Truitt of
Salisbury, Md.
He is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Betty Miller of
Salisbury, Md., and several nieces and nephews.
His love for country music was well known, but his passion was the pedal steel guitar. He started as a very young musician with Bill Godfrey, and years later with locals such as Freddie Rosen, Brent Horner and numerous others in the area. As country music evolved, so did his knowledge of his instrument. He became very proficient with new tunings and chord progressions, and was constantly learning and practicing on the steel guitar. He continued playing until his eighties, even writing and performing at home, on both the keyboard and the steel guitar. To say he truly loved his instrument and performing is an understatement.
He was kind, compassionate, willing to help others when needed, and a wealth of knowledge, and will be forever missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to deeply thank Dr. Sharad Satyal, Dr. Justinian Ngaiza and the staff of Tidal Health Oncology Department; as well as Coastal Hospice.
