Alberta Fuller, 98 of Blackford passed peacefully into the arms of her Jesus on March 3, 2025.
Alberta was born to Albert and Daisy Cowan on October 31, 1926 on the family farm in the Oak Grove Community of Webster County. She and her 7 brothers and sisters worked alongside their parents on the farm, so they learned early the value of hardwork and how to "make do" with whatever was available. During WW2 Alberta was a regular "Rosie the Riveter" when she supported the war effort by working in a factory in Evansville.
She married Ernest "Pap" Fuller on October 5, 1946 and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage until Ernest's passing in 1986. Alberta and Ernest raised 3 daughters in Blackford, Anita "Jane", Donna, and Debra. They instilled in their daughters the importance of learning and education, all three dedicated their lives to teaching young children. Alberta was Nanny to 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 4 great grandchildren and certainly "spoiled them all sweet". She loved to cook and spelled love for her family FOOD. According to her granddaughter, Alberta could sew and fix anything. Over her lifetime she made and hand quilted many beautiful quilts which she often gave away as gifts on meaningful occasions. As a matter of fact, when each grandchild left for college, she made and sent them to school with a polyester quilt made from the pieces from old polyester clothes.
Alberta walked with Jesus from a young age and attended Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian church for many years where she served as the cemetery Treasurer, part of the church women's group, and as a church elder.
Alberta will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but we know she is in Heaven with Jesus, her beloved husband, and all the family and friends who gone before her.
1 Corinthians 2:9
Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
Survivors include 3 daughters Jane Plum (Richard) of Morganfield, Donna Robertson (Tommy), Debra Heady (Mark) all of Blackford, 5 grandchildren Tracy Robertson, Heather Plum, Daniel Heady, Nathan Heady, Matthew Plum, 4 great-grandchildren Addy Heady, Anley Heady, Rachel Plum and Adam Plum.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Blackford. Dr. Joe Leonard will be officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 9:00 AM till 12:00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery c/o Tracy Robertson, 105 State Route 143 N, Clay, KY 42404 or Blackford Cemetery, c/o Debra Heady, 219 Cemetery Rd., Clay, KY 42404
