Alberto Lopez, Sr. of Corpus Christi, passed away on March 19, 2024. He was born April 28, 1941, to Donato and San Juana Lopez in Calallen, Texas. He attended Calallen School District.
Alberto was a man with a quiet nature but a witty sense of humor. In his spare time, he liked working outside fixing and building new things. He loved the outdoors and camping at Garner State Park with his family. He loved listening to old country music. Albert was a retired iron worker and belonged to the Ironworkers Local Union 510. He was a faithful Catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Church. We would like to give special thanks to Adela Hernandez, who was there for him during his illness.
He met and married Margarita Lopez on January 19, 1962. They had been married for 40 years.
Alberto is preceded in death by his wife Margarita Lopez, son Edward Lopez, siblings Elena Ceballos, Antonio Lopez, Luis Lopez, Alvino Lopez, Cuberto Lopez, Ramiro Lopez, Mauro Lopez, Tomas Lopez, Cezar Lopez, Roberto Ceballos, Concepcion Zavala, Guadalupe Castillo, and Diamantina Maldonado.
Alberto is survived by his children Alberto Lopez, Jr. (Cris) Mary Lopez (David), and Debra Rodriguez. His grandchildren Destiny Lopez, Candace Rodriguez (Jacob), Denise Lopez, Trey Rodriguez, Montana Lopez, Dakota Lopez, and Sean Lopez. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 3:00 pm, with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles. Interment will follow the funeral service at Memorial Park Cemetery.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
