Mrs. Alene Bowling Crosby, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Atlanta, GA, on July 13, 2025. She was born on October 29, 1935, in Chambers County, Alabama. Alene was the eldest of eight siblings, a role she carried with strength, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility. Throughout her life, she offered guidance, support, and unwavering love to her brothers and sisters, helping each of them find their footing in the world. Her nurturing spirit and quiet leadership became a foundation not just for her family, but for everyone who knew her. Alene attended Atlanta Business College and went on to work as a secretary at Southern Bell (AT&T), where she met the love of her life, James D. Crosby, her devoted husband of 68 years. She found joy in cooking, gardening, reading, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Alene is preceded in death by her husband, James D. Crosby; her parents, Thomas S. and Mattie A. Bowling; and her brother, James W. Bowling. Alene is survived by her daughters, Cheryl C. Findlay and Angela A. Crosby; son, Philip J. Crosby; granddaughter, Sarah F. (Dillon) Drushal; sisters, Mary Ann Hill, Zelna Metcalf, and Janice Brown; brothers, George Bowling, Frank Bowling, and Russell Bowling and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services to celebrate Alene's life will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 11 A.M. at Crosby Chapel Church, where Alene was a member, with Reverend Pete Aycock officiating. Interment will follow at Crosby Chapel Church Cemetery. Mrs. Alene will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Crosby Chapel Church. Active Pallbearers are Mike Bostic, Mitchell Stidham, Jared Turner, Mikie Taylor, Jude Harrison, and Greg Beecher. Honorary Pallbearers are all in attendance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Crosby Chapel Church, 3135 Crosby Chapel Church Rd. Baxley, GA 31513 in Mrs. Crosby's honor. The staff of Nobles Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Alene Bowling Crosby.
