Aleta LaRont Obituary

Aleta Mae LaRont

October 16, 1920 — February 9, 2013

SALEM - Aleta Mae (Bones) LaRont died peacefully in her sleep Saturday evening at Lancaster Village in Salem with her grandson and granddaughter by her side.

She was born in Salem, Oregon on October 16, 1920 to Vester Neal and Edith Marie (Dietz) Bones of Turner, Oregon. Aleta grew up in Turner and attended Turner Elementary School and Turner High School.

On March 26, 1938 she married Jack S. LaRont. They moved to Clinton, MO where Jack worked on the family farm. In 1941 she and Jack, with their 2 children, moved back to the Turner/Aumsville area, where 2 more children were born. In 1945 they bought their farm on Bishop Road at Aumsville where she lived until 2010.

Aleta worked on the farm with her husband and alongside her children picking berries and beans each summer, and was active in her children's school activities, attending ball games and school functions at Aumsville Elementary and Cascade High School.

Aleta was active in the Marion County Extension, teaching many home extension classes, and a 4-H leader. She worked for Meier & Frank and Jack Beck Interior as a seamstress making drapes and bedspreads.

She was on the Aumsville election board, a member of the Aumsville Historical Society, and the Aumsville Ladies Club. Aleta loved baking, especially cinnamon rolls, and making candy. She enjoyed dancing, camping, fishing, traveling to Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico, family dinners, and tending her roses and dahlias.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte (Kurt) Norlin of Albany and three sons, Melvin (Shirley) LaRont of Turner, Marvin (Ramona) LaRont of Scio and Vester "Dutch" (Sandy) LaRont of Millersburg, sister-in-law Mable LaRont Raney of Sparte, MO., 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, two sisters and a brother.

Services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February, 14th at Belcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Contributions may be given in her name to either the Aumsville Historical Society or the Aumsville Fire Department. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
