Alex Lee "Bud" Brown, Sr., 89, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi, surrounded by his loving family. Graveside services and interment will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 12 at Whitehall Cemetery with Bro. Trent Jaudon officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Bud was born November 14, 1935, to William Puckett Brown, Sr. and Leota Hopper Brown. He enjoyed playing golf, bird hunting, and spending time outdoors. Bud retired from Southern Natural Gas after many years of service. He served as Justice Court Judge for 44 years with dedication and integrity. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed following his grandchildren and cheering them on in their many activities.
Bud is survived by his son, Lee Brown (Brittany) of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being "PawPaw" to his four grandchildren: Tripp Brown (Logan), Makenzie Stevens (Lane), Ella Brown, and Cayden Brown. He is also survived by his four great-grandchildren: Sadie Brown, Alex Brown, Cohen Stevens, and Georgia Leigh Stevens; in addition to his loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Dempsey Brown; his parents, William Puckett Brown, Sr., Arch Hammack and Leota Hopper Brown Hammack; and his brother, Billy Brown.
Serving as pallbearers are Lee Brown, Tripp Brown, Cayden Brown, Lane Stevens, Mark Dempsey, Dwight Dempsey, and Jason Dempsey. Memorials in honor of Bud may be given to Whitehall Cemetery Fund, c/o Garvin Whitten, 10954 Highway 14 West, Louisville, MS 39339.
Services are under the direction of Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by signing the guest register at www.masseyfuneralhome.net.
