Alex Ebertz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Zacherl Funeral Home - Fond du Lac on Nov. 20, 2022.
Alex R. Ebertz, age 91, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Hospice Home of Hope. Alex was born in the Town of Empire on September 5, 1931, the son of William and Martina (Freund) Ebertz. At a young age the family moved to a farm in St. Joe, Wisconsin. He attended school there and was a graduate of New Holstein High School. He married Lorraine M. Schneider on September 11, 1954 at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin. Alex was employed at Wisconsin Tractor, Gateway Trucking and the Fond du Lac School District at Waters School. In the 1950's he served in the Wisconsin National Guard for seven years.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; four daughters, Pam (Tom) Livieri and Peg (Dave) Patt of North Fond du Lac, Pat Ebertz (Ken "KJ" Sippel II) of Mt. Calvary, Mary (Ken) Newton of Oakfield; six grandchildren; Shaun (Becky) Livieri of Sun Prairie, Shane Livieri (Kelly Rollo) of North Fond du Lac, Jason (Jess) Morgen, Justin (Brittany) Patt of Fond du Lac, Megan (Jesse) Kemmer of Lannon and Eric (Yuli Tjong) Sippel of Madison; five great-grandchildren, Brayden, Grayson, Payton Patt, Sophie Morgen and Marcus Sippel, with another one due in April, 2023. He is further survived by his brother, Leander (Liz) Ebertz of Mt. Calvary; his sister, Verena (Chuck) Groeschel of New Holstein; two sisters-in-law Rosie Ebertz and Margie Schneider; brother-in-law Ralph Schneider, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Joseph and Rosa (Kraus) Schneider; son-in-law, Richard Sippel; brothers, Zeno (Grace) Ebertz, Norman (Virginia) Ebertz, Ivo (June) Ebertz, Vince Ebertz; sisters-in-law, Edna (Cletus) Hochrein, Marian Schneider, Millie (Orville) Haensgen and Erna (Jim) Halbach; brothers-in-law Eddie (Leona) Schneider, Clarence (Irene) Schneider; Walter (Bernice) Schneider, Claude Schneider, Harvey Schneider and Ottie (Rosie) Schneider.
Dad was a humble, hard-working man who loved his family, the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, his Sharp's beer, cutting lawn on his riding lawn mower that he did up until this past summer, playing sheepshead, and going to bingo and polka dances. He was the best dad anyone could want, he was our hero, and he would do anything for us or anyone else. He could fix pretty much anything that broke (he had to, he had four girls) until dementia robbed him of that ability. He liked to putz around in the garage, putting together grandfather clocks and making wood decorations.
A special thanks to our wonderful neighbors, Denny and Jan Luther, for always being there to help and bringing donuts. Also, a special thanks to Hospice Home of Hope for the kindness and compassion shown to Dad and our family during his final days.
SERVICES: Alex's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 for visitation from 12:00 pm noon to 2:00 pm at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac. A Funeral Service will be held at 2: 00 PM. Entombment will take place at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to SSM Health Hospice Home of Hope.
