Alexander John Ebertz, aged 32, passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with an illness on May 23rd, 2023. Alex was the beloved son of Paul & Veronica Ebertz, faithful husband of 5 years to Kaytlyn, and cherished eldest brother to David, Katie, Emily and Benjamin Ebertz.
Alex was born on December 26th, 1990 in
Phoenix, AZ. In his childhood he attended Ss. Simon & Jude Catholic primary school until the family moved to
Woodinville, WA for two years. They then moved back to Phoenix where he attended and graduated from Bourgade Catholic High School. Alex had many interests in his early years including: downhill snow skiing, golfing with family & friends, online gaming, running cross-country, and playing the violin.
Alex studied Arts, Media and Engineering at Arizona State University where he graduated with an excellent GPA and a reputation for scholastic excellence. He earned his Bachelor's degree with Honors in 2013 in the newly created field of Digital Culture. It was while at ASU that Alex met Katie Lowry and began their courtship. During these years he also made many good & loyal friends, among the closest was his longtime college roommate Jason Bailey, along with his Jason's future wife Nancy, who remained true friends until the end.
After dating in college, Alex and Katie purchased a home in
Gilbert, AZ. Some years later, the two were married locally on May 11th, 2018. He was a devoted husband that worked tirelessly to provide a beautiful home and to nurture their loving relationship. Along the way they acquired two cats, Tali and Kita, and puppy Milo, whom Alex spoiled like his own children. He was also adored by the whole of the Lowry family, whose lives were changed immeasurably by his generosity. Alex enjoyed helping others, fixing challenging problems at home, new technology, video gaming, golfing, boating, and traveling the world with his wife.
While working to finish his college degree, Alex began his professional career working at Verizon in early 2012, and continued there for 11 years. He was a dedicated and accomplished Technical Solution Architect, IoT Solution Design Engineer, and became a National Cyber Security Architect leader. Many colleagues happily speak his praises, commenting on his reliability and wealth of knowledge, as well as his eagerness to assist or mentor all in need. Alex advanced many careers and his influence will be felt across his company and many others for decades to come.
In honor of Alex's life and legacy, the Ebertz family has established the "Alex Ebertz Memorial Scholarship" to benefit students in need who are attending Ss. Simon & Jude Catholic School, in
