Alex Juan Martinez, a man known for his loving heart and unwavering passion for life, departed this world on February 16, 2025, in Center, Colorado, with his loving family by his side. Leaving a legacy of warmth and wisdom. Born on September 26, 1945, in Pueblo, Colorado, Alex's life was a testament to his intelligent mind and his dedication to his faith and family.
Alex led a fulfilling life alongside his cherished wife, Patsy Martinez. Their love story was one for the ages, flourishing over 58 years of marriage, blessed with joy and a beautiful family. Alex was a devoted father to his children, Leon Martinez, Jacob Martinez, Sandra (David) Medina, and Stacey (Mary) Martinez. He was revered as a calm and God-fearing man who instilled in his family the values of kindness and respect.
Alex's kind spirit extended to his two sisters, Esther (Dave) Maes and Inez Montoya, as well as to his adored grandchildren, Leon Jr., Shaneen, Shaniqua, Sabrina, Isaiah, Julian Medina, Justyce Martinez Jacqueline, and Danielle. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Rico, Laveah, Analicia, Lovencio, Dezlyn, Zeriah, Isabella, Serena, Alianna, Valois, Zoe, Zaliyah, Shlyze, Vance, Solomon, Veyda, and Danny, who will undoubtedly carry on his legacy of love and care. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins felt the warmth of his presence in their lives.
Before his peaceful passing, Alex was predeceased by his parents, Solomon and Elesida, and his brothers, Raymond, Joe, Ben, and Richard Martinez. He was also greeted in the afterlife by his grandsons, Andrew Medina, Rico and Jalen Martinez, a granddaughter, Alexsis Medina, and a nephew, Bernie Martinez-all deeply missed and forever in his heart.
Alex dedicated 30 years of service to Center Schools, reflecting his commitment to education and the future of his community. A longstanding and devout member of St. Francis Jerome Catholic Church, he found solace and strength in his faith. His young years were spent working on various farms-an experience that imbued him with a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the simple joys of life.
An enthusiastic Green Bay Packers fan, Alex also relished the world of wrestling, the thrill of cars, cruising around, and his beloved ice cream. His leisure time was filled with the melodies of music and the wisdom of the bible, which he read fervently.
