Alexander Bechtel Obituary
Alexander Charles Bechtel, Sr., of Seaford, Del., went to the Lord on Nov. 11, 2023, as the result of an automobile accident. He was 35.
Alex was born on July 5, 1988, in Easton, Md. He attended preschool in Trappe, Md., before moving to Seaford, where he attended Frederick Douglass Elementary School, Seaford Middle School, and Seaford High School.
Alex grew up in "The Grove," riding bikes and horses, fishing, and cruising back roads with his family. He showed mechanical ability from an early age, assembling everything from cellular phones to dirt bikes with spare parts that others deemed junk.
As he grew up, Alex turned his aptitude and inclinations into a career. He built a reputation in Delaware and Maryland as a mechanic, including diesel repair, but also as a heavy equipment operator, especially with excavators and bulldozers. In addition, he could build a house from the ground up, and he started a general contracting business, Bechtel and Sons LLC, as a way to combine his various skills. He was willing to put these skills to work for a friend or even a stranger in need without asking for pay.
Outside the job, Alex's children were his passion in life. He is survived by his mother, Kathryn B. Phillips; his father, Raymond A. Wilson Jr.; a sister, Kitty Phillips; a niece, Liberty Jayne; sons Alexander, Jr., 14; Skyler, 13; Xander, 6; Malachi, 6; Kane, 3; Hendrix, 3; a stepson, Konwai Thompson, 13; and his daughter, Kamila, 8. Survivors also include a former girlfriend, Katie B. Miller; a close friend, Katelyn Larimore; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a partner, Cira Nicole Brown, mother of two of his children.
