Alexander Kellas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels - Brighton/Rochester Chapel on Jan. 16, 2026.
Went to be with the Lord on January 9th, 2025.

Son of John P. Kellas II and Nancy Gregg Kellas of Brighton and brother of John P. Kellas III (deceased), James G. Kellas, William L. Kellas, and Robert P. Kellas. Born March 31st, 1959, he was known for his humble nature, love of skiing, dry sense of humor, his love of life, his love for the Adirondacks, his love of dogs, and his very caring and generous heart. Al was born and raised in Rochester, NY where he attended Allens Creek School followed by The Allendale Columbia School and Pittsford Sutherland School as a member of the class of 1977. After graduating, Al spent time in Aspen, Colorado where he learned the craft of automotive mechanics which he continued to pursue when he returned to Rochester. In 1991, Al went out on his own and founded Impact Motors as both a dealer of used cars as well as vehicle repair with a focus on foreign cars particularly SAABs. Al worked hard in establishing Impact Motors as a trusted source for vehicle repair and vehicle sales. As such, a local SAAB dealer reached out to Al to ask him to have Impact Motors become a certified SAAB repair shop for them. Over the years, Al rescued many dogs beginning with two German Shepherds Bob & George and ending with Mahlon, a Plot Hound, all of whom were fixtures at Impact Motors. In 2024, Al sold Impact Motors and began to enjoy retirement.

Al is survived by his brothers, Gregg (Laura), William, Robert (Kristen); cousins, Katharine (Brett) Gillen and Robert [Judy] C. Harvey; 8 nieces, 5 nephews, one grand niece.

Friends may call Wednesday, January 21st from 5 – 7 PM at Anthony Funeral Chapel (2305 Monroe Avenue). You are invited to bring pictures and your written memories of Al to share. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 22nd 11:00AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church (25 Westminster Road, Rochester). In lieu of flowers, memoriams may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, National Kidney Foundation Serving Upstate & Western New York, 15 Prince St., Rochester, NY 14607, and Lollypop Farm Humane Society of Greater Rochester.
