In Loving Memory of Alexander Carl Ruse
May 17, 1993 – March 27, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alexander Carl Ruse, who left us far too soon. Alexander was a man of many talents -confident, sharp-witted, and always ready with a sarcastic remark. His humor, honesty, and larger-than-life personality made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.
Born on May 17, 1993, in Huntsville, AL, Alexander entered the world on his own terms - eager and in a rush. In November 1994, his family moved to Sterling, MI, where he spent his childhood. Even as a baby, he was happiest sitting in his walker in the barn, surrounded by his dad, grandpa, and the horses. From an early age, he was a bubbly, adventurous spirit with a big heart, always ready to explore, invent, and learn. Later in life he proceeded to move to Murray, Kentucky where he received his Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree specializing in Veterinary Technology while serving in the Army Kentucky National Guard as an engineer. Alex proceeded to build a career with Diebold Inc, where he worked with his dad and put many of his skills to use.
A true jack-of-all-trades, Alexander had an insatiable curiosity and a passion for mastering new skills. He eagerly explored a variety of hobbies, including working with animals, leather crafting, machining, finance, beekeeping, canning, sewing, gardening and many more. His love for books, peppers, dogs, cows, horses, and cars reflected his deep appreciation for life's many wonders.
More than anything, Alexander was a pillar of strength for his family - a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. He stood by those he loved, sharing in their struggles and triumphs, always showing up when it mattered most. The world is a little darker without him, and our hearts a little heavier in his absence.
Alexander is survived by his father, Sheridan (Duke) Ruse, and his mother, Tanja Ruse (Au Gres, MI); his oldest sister, Rebecca, and brother-in-law, Daniel Waters (Louisville, KY); his older sister, Nicole Ruse (Oscoda, MI); his younger brother, Nickolas Ruse, and fiancé Olivia, along with their children, Alex's nephews Austin and Eli, and niece Elizabeth (Lawrenceburg, KY); his Oma, Brigitta Olberg (Grafenwöhr, Germany); as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.
Though his time with us was far too short, we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with his Opa, Gerd Olberg (Grafenwöhr, Germany); his grandma and Gramps, Barbara and Sheridan (Dan) Ruse Sr. (Sterling, MI); beloved cousins, friends, and pets. Surely, he was met with a warm and loving welcome in Heaven.
A funeral service to celebrate Alexander's life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 12:00pm, at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel, 127 N Forest St
Standish, MI 48658, with Pastor Mark Menacher presiding with burial at Sterling Cemetery to follow. Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 3:00pm - 8:00pm. Family would like to welcome friends to the American Legion, 3221 M-76,
