Alfred P. Antonia, 89, of New Brighton, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025. Born May 20, 1935, in New Brighton, he is the son of the late Alfred and Florence Antonia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen (Capan) Antonia and their son Jeffrey W. Gregory Antonia, his sister, Carole Edgell, and his father and mother-in-law John and Diana Capan.

Fred is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Harry Caminite III, Beaver, and two grandsons, Aaron R. Caminite, Beaver, and Joshua and Nicole Caminite and their beautiful boys Noah and Caden, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fred’s greatest joy in life was his family, he always had a story to tell, or a memory to share. When Fred was not working, he spent time with the family, helping at one of the family-owned businesses, Y-Indian Guide and traveling with Jeff, woodworking, model train building and traveling with Lisa and the family. Most recently he and Aaron were inseparable, avid Sci-Fi fans, they spent many hours watching Dr. Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and the list goes on, they looked forward to any new release, Marvel / DC Comics, any Godzilla or King Kong or Jurassic Park, these days included eating out and attending the local theater, discussion that included current events and of course the history lesson of everything that “back in my day” was here.

Fred, a New Brighton High School graduate went on to attend Geneva College, he served in the U.S. Army and went on to work at B&W and Col-fin Specialty Steel until retirement.

Fred loved to work with his hands, he was an avid wood worker, train enthusiast and loved to cook, he spent most of his free time remodeling the house he and Kathleen raised their family in, after which he shifted his focus to support Kathleen and later Lisa’s entrepreneurship, by building display cases, window displays and general maintenance, while engaging with all the clientele. For 35 plus years he was an active member of the Beaver County Model Railroad and Historical Society, becoming a member when the club was along the Ohio River overlooking the railyards and tracks in Freedom. He attended the weekly meeting, and especially looked forward to the club’s frequent trips to observe other clubs displays, the frequent train shows and sale at Center Stage/Monaca Turners and the club’s annual holiday displays.

In a poignant display of familial love and support Toni Caminite, Fred’s friend and neighbor of 50 plus year, spent endless hours visiting with, for caring for and talking about anything and everything with Fred. “Mom, words cannot express how grateful we are for your unwavering support and presence during this difficult time. The time you spent with Fred in both the hospital and hospice was invaluable and deeply appreciated. Your compassion and care provided him comfort and your strength sustained us all. Thank You and Love You!”The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the 3rd floor at Heritage Valley Beaver and the doctor, staff, assistants and volunteers at Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford, words cannot express our appreciation and gratitude for your endless dedication, and the care and love shown toward Fred and our family during this difficult time.

In accordance with Fred’s wishes, funeral services were private with burial taking place at St. Joseph Cemetery, New Brighton. If you desire, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made, in the name of Alfred P. Antonia to the Good Samaritan Hospice Wexford, 146 Neely School Road, Wexford, PA 15090 or the Beaver County Model Railroad, 416 Sixth Street, Monaca, PA 15061.
