Alfred V. Caporali, age 85, formerly of Bolivar, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in Franklin, TN. He was born in Canton, on January 3, 1940, the son of the late Nicholas and Virginia (Bagnola) Caporali. Al was a 1958 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. He had been employed with The Timken Company for over 40 years in a number of roles, retiring from Timken Research in 1997.
Al was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple for over 65 years where he was a Deacon and active with the Encouragers Class. Al loved and supported Missions and Mission projects and was a member of the Board of Missions. In addition, he spent over 20 years teaching in the Youth Teens ministry.
Al served as Stark County Reserve Deputy Sheriff for 25 years. Al was a sports official for 25 years, officiating football, basketball and baseball at both the High School and College level. He was a former president of the Canton Baseball Officials Association.
In 1958, Al married Martha Ann (McNeese) Caporali who preceded him in death in 2015. Survivors include his son, Jim (Jennifer) Caporali; daughter, Karen (Rockie) Linden; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Joseph Caporali.
In addition to his parents and wife, Al was preceded in death by his brothers, Camillo Caporali, Paul Caporali, Ronald Caporali, and Angelo Nicozini; along with his sisters, Concetta Saltarelli, Stella Pryor, Francis Morris, Theresa Comanitz, Florence Vanyo, Elvera Mazeall and Rose Brown.
Friends may visit with the family at Reed Funeral Home (CANTON Chapel) on February 24, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Additional visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the Funeral services on February 25th. Funeral services will be held at Canton Baptist Temple on February 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mike Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Online condolences and fond memories may be left for the family at www.reedfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canton Baptist Temple General Missions Fund.
