ANTWERP, Ohio - Alfred J. Daeger, 98, of Antwerp, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at The Manor in Antwerp.
Al was born in Antwerp on Sept. 24, 1925, a son of the late Matilda (Bulach) and Nicholas Daeger.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Yeoman Second Class in WW II.
Al established the Antwerp Federal Credit Union, worked at Dana Weatherhead and then at Scott-Fetzer Corp.
Al loved the sunshine and spending time with his family at Hamilton Lake. He also loved being married, having shared 73 of his 98 years with his two brides.
Al will be sadly missed by his wife, Donna; children, Karen (Robert) Brush, David (the late Marla) Daeger, Bruce (Terri) Daeger, Jan (the late Van) Kohart and Steve (Jo) Daeger; stepchildren, Dawn (the late Roger) Sierra, Susan George and Brian (Dasha) George; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Daeger; stepdaughter, Angie George; and siblings, Dorothy Hettinger Weiss, Mildred Halbgewoks, Madonna, Raymond and Bernard Daeger.
Viewing is on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 4-7 p..m., at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River St., Antwerp.
Al's Funeral Mass is Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10 a.m., at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 203 W. Townline St., Payne, Ohio. Please meet at the church after 9:45 a.m.
He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, with military honors.
