ALFRED GARNER
Finger, TN: Alfred Landon Garner, age 87, passed away November 16, 2024, at his home.
He was born November 22, 1936, in Chester County, the son of the late Joe Clifford and Mary L.E. Burkhead Garner. He grew up and attended school at Hickory Corner.
He married Jo Ellen McNeil on December 24, 1955. They made their home in the Old Friendship Community. He worked on his own farm raising cotton, corn, soybeans and raising hogs until 1992.
He also worked at Brown Shoe Company in Selmer, Grinnell Industry and Henderson Stamping in Henderson.
He was a member of the Little Hatchie Primitive Baptist Church. He enjoyed deer hunting, gardening and working on equipment.
Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Jo Ellen McNeil Garner of Finger; a son, Brad Garner (Connie) of Finger and two daughters, Gail Seratt (Anthony) of Finger and Kay Travis (Larry) of Finger; seven grandchildren, Stacy Seratt, Eric Seratt (Daniel), Nicole Williams, Tyler Garner, Zachary Garner (Brook), Easton Garner and Kip Garner and four great grandchildren, Lillie Joyner, Travis Williams, Adyson Garner and Cooper Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Jessie Lee Rowland, Alma Ann Morrison and Peggy Whitman.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 19th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Elder Steve Leggett and Brad Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday and 12 Noon until 2:00 PM on Tuesday service time.
