Alfred Warren "Al" Leak

Alfred Warren "Al" Leak, 90, passed away on December 5, 2025 in Sarasota, FL. Born in St. Joseph on May 24, 1935, Al spent his early years on the island of Aruba, excelling at spearfishing, golfing, and athletics and graduating from Lago High School there. He returned to Aruba often, relishing reunions with old friends. Al attended Ithaca College in New York before joining the Navy. After his honorable discharge, he returned to St. Joe, working for International Harvester and Shelter Insurance. In 1998 he and his wife Ann moved to Punta Gorda, Florida. In 2018, he moved to Sarasota.

Al's two passions were Aruba and golf. He learned the game in Aruba, taught by his father, and was well-known for decades as a championship golfer, having won numerous city tournaments. He was a 7 time Champion of The Men's City Match Play and Medal Play Golf Tournaments, an eleven time winner of the Fairview Men's Club Golf Championship. He had been a member of Fairview Golf Course since 1959.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and brother, and his wife of 38 years, Ann, (another Aruban who shared his passion for the island).

He is survived by his stepdaughter Shannon Feinroth and her husband Jody, who cared for him during his years in Florida; his first wife Theresa Bonjour and their sons Tom (Dana), Rob (Julie), Jim (Dana) and Andy (Kari); 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Wally and Jerry Campbell and their children and grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Evelyn Vasquez, a faithful caregiver for 4 1/2 years who was very special to Al.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 15, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
