Age 88, of Oro Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025.
Alfred (Al) was born on August 22, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. He lived a good life driven by a strong work ethic and love for his family. A self-made man, he began his career in sales and worked tirelessly to build his own successful electronic components company in Tucson. Alfred's dedication to his work was unwavering, and he continued to work until the age of 86.
Proud of his service in the U.S. Army, Alfred served as a medic, an experience he held in high regard throughout his life. He was a devoted father and cherished the time he spent with his 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Alfred was passionate about sharing experiences with his family, teaching his daughters how to snow ski and water ski, while also instilling in them a love for music and musicals that they continue to carry with them today. His generosity knew no bounds, and he found joy in making those around him feel cared for. Gift-giving was an integral part of who he was, and I'm sure his favorite company, Amazon, appreciated that. He was always generous, often giving cash to any stranger in need.
In his leisure time, Alfred enjoyed watching sitcoms, football, and cop shows on TV, going to the movies, vacationing in San Diego, and savoring a good Italian beef sandwich or hot dogs from Gene and Jude's. He had a generous spirit and will be remembered for his unwavering dedication and the happiness he brought to those who knew him.
Alfred is survived by his four daughters (Felicia, Jodi, Sheri, Michelle),12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members and friends who were fortunate to know him. He was preceded in death by his sister Grace and parents Ben and Beatrice Scavo.
To celebrate Al, donations can be made to his favorite charity St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
A private family service will be held in honor of Al.

I just found out about the passing of Al. I grew up in the fastener business with Al and fondly remember our chats at the end of day when he finished his sales calls. My condolences to his daughters

I was sad to hear of Al's passing. He was a friend and a co-worker in the 70's in Illinois. He was a fabulous person and "one of a kind" guy. My condolences to his four daughters.

Cousin Al was the life of the party. Whether it was the annual family 4th of July party at Decoma Day Camp, or the Christmas parties at Cousin Grace´s house, his laugh always filled a room. He also strongly suggested (and supported) me to get involved in EMS and firefighting, which is something I ended up getting involved in.

I worked with Al in the late 70s. He was surely a treasure, one of a kind.
