In Loving Memory of Alfredo Mayorga Jr. February 1, 1936 – June 19, 2025
Alfredo Mayorga Jr., age 89, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025. He was born on February 1, 1936, in Brownsville, Texas, to Alfredo Mayorga Sr. and Gavina Mendez Mayorga.
Alfredo graduated from Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, and soon after enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving for three years. One of his favorite assignments was in Rockaway, New York, a place he often fondly recalled for the memories and friendships formed there.
After completing his military service, Alfredo returned to Corpus Christi, where he married the love of his life, Mary Olga Maldonado. A few years later, they moved their growing family to San Antonio, Texas, where Alfredo worked as a steelworker. While raising a family, he pursued higher education and earned his Realtor's license from St. Philip's Community College-an achievement that reflected his determination and drive.
He and Mary Olga were devoted members of St. Benedict's Catholic Church, where their faith played a guiding role in their lives. Together, they instilled in their sons the importance of God, faith, and love-values that continue to live on in their family.
Alfredo was deeply devoted to his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them. He led by example, showing his sons that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible. His dedication, quiet strength, and work ethic left a lasting legacy.
He found joy in time spent at the family ranch, but his favorite pastime was playing golf. As a proud and active member of the Pan American Golf Association, Alfredo was known for his love of the game, his kind spirit, and his commitment to camaraderie and community.
Alfredo was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Mary Olga Mayorga; his sons, Christopher Columbus Mayorga and Joe Ray Mayorga; and his siblings, Raymond Mayorga Sr., Miguel Mayorga, and Bertha Mayorga.
He is survived by his loving children: Alfred Mayorga III and his wife Cynthia, Daniel Mayorga and his wife Donna, John Mayorga and his fiancée Lydia, and Richard Mayorga and his wife Gina. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought him great pride and happiness.
Alfredo is also survived by his brothers Carlos Mayorga and his wife Albertina, Arnoldo Mayorga Sr. and his wife Gloria, Armando Mayorga and his wife Mary; his sisters, Ninfa Mayorga and Estela Smithwick of Corpus Christi, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember him with deep affection.
Alfredo lived a life marked by love, service, and faith. He will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
