LIMA - Alice Marie Bercaw was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 94 years of life. She passed away peacefully in the evening of January 22, 2025. Alice was born September 28, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Mary (Fifer) and Wallace Patterson. On August 18, 1951, she married Eugene F. Bercaw, the love of her life, who passed December 30, 2012.
She is also preceded in death by 2 brothers – Wallace 'Bruzz' and Johnny Patterson, a sister – Patty Patterson, 2 daughters – Bonnie Holtzapple and Jeannie Boyer, and 2 grandchildren – Michael and Dorothy
She is survived by a daughter – Kathy (Rick) Wolfe of Sidney; a grandson – Patrick (Tracey) Hire who was her caretakers for the last 10 years of her life; grandsons – Tim, Jerry, granddaughters – Shannon, Mary,
Dorothy, Mari, Tisha, and 18 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.
She had a love of football and could always be found cheering on her favorite teams, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Cleveland Browns. Her enthusiasm was contagious.
Alice was known for her hardworking spirit, cooking, sharing stories about her family history, and kind heart. Above all, she cherished her family and found her greatest joy in spending time together, creating
memories that will be treasured forever.
Funeral services will begin 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Kent Place will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
